100 MASTERPIECES FROM THE RUSSIAN IMPERIAL RESIDENCES

The exhibition is considered by the Government of the Russian Federation as one of the key projects of the international festival “Russian Seasons in Italy”, under construction in 2018.
The main Russian Museums-Reserves – Peterhof, Tsarskoye Selo, Gatchina, Pavlovsk -, pride and national heritage of Russia, for the first time in Italy, will show those unique pieces of their collections that reflect the richness of the former imperial residences. Among these outstanding art objects are paintings, watercolors, costumes, porcelains, bronzes, furniture created by the best masters of Russia, Italy, England, France, China and other countries.
It will be a journey through the history and life of the Tsars of Russia, led by the hand inside the four imperial residences.
Many of the items on display, which belonged directly to Russian emperors, are commemorative in nature. These include the shirt of Peter I, the uniforms of the emperors Paul I, Alexander I, Nicholas I, Alexander II, the throne chairs of Nicholas I and Alexander III. The exhibition will present porcelain vases and sets of rare beauty and artistic taste, including the famous Guryevsky service (20 items) made for Alexander I by the Imperial Porcelain Factory. Several kilograms of gold were used for its decoration. The exposition will include details of the historical museum complexes, for example, objects from the non-surviving “Lyons Hall”, which was created by the will of Emperor Alexander II in the Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo.
Part of the exhibition is addressed specifically to the Italian public and is associated with the story of the trip to Italy in 1845-1846 of the stay in Palermo of Emperor Nicholas I and his wife Empress Alexandra Feodorovna.
In the century of their museum life, Peterhof, Tsarskoye Selo, Gatchina, Pavlovsk have experienced the hardships of post-revolutionary self-determination, the loss and destruction of palace ensembles, the ruin and rebirth of their collections, the bitterness of burdens and the triumph of sumptuous recovery.
These pages of the history of the museums will be revealed in the special “cinema room” created between the halls of the Palazzo Sant’Elia.
The exhibition promises to be a spectacular event in the Italian cultural and museum scene that will arouse great interest from the European public, helping to further strengthen the Italian-Russian cultural dialogue.

Reduced: 5 EURO (over 65, groups of more than 15 people, university students upon presentation of the card)
Reduced price for schools and employees of the Metropolitan City: 3 EURO
Free admissions: Journalists (upon presentation of the card); Disabled people and carer (who demonstrates belonging to social and health services); Tourist guides, escorts and interpreters (only if accompanying groups or classes)
